Q12954 - INFO: Configuration - Source Configuration Q12947
This is the source configuration screen for the Hach WIMS Direct Server-Side Interface to Custom Q12947 Aspen LIMS.

In order to configure source connection from the interface, click Configuration and select Source Configuration.

The next screen will display the configuration parameters:

  • DBMS Type - only Oracle is supported
  • OLE DB Provider - By default: OraOLEDB.ORACLE. The default should work with most Oracle configurations. If you're having connection issues and all other parameters are correct, you might try changing this value.
  • Data Source - this is the Oracle server where your LIMS system is configured to store data.  If using the ORACLE TNS adapter, specify the TNS name here. You can also use the Oracle Hostname Adapter connection conventions
  • Owning Schema - this is required only if the LIMS source tables are owned by a different schema user than the one establishing the initial conneciton.
  • Username - The username you want to use to connect to the database. This user should have permission to access the database and tables that contain data.
  • Password - The password associated with the Username and is used to connect to the database.
  • Advanced Configuration - these permit adjustment of the command and connection timeout.

    • Connection Timeout in Seconds - how many seconds the program should wait when establishing a connection to the GE Fanuc Proficy iHistorian server.
    • Command Timeout in Seconds - specifies how many seconds the program should wait for a query to complete before aborting the operation.
    • Customizations - this can be used to specify extra connection parameters, Advanced Users Only

Display Connection button:

This button at the bottom left corner, will allow you to look at the actual connection string used to connect to the OPSWIN source database. This will give the ability to copy/paste it from here into the Browser configuration (see article Using Interface Browser Q12948)

First you are asked if you want to see the password or not. If you need to hide it, click NO - otherwise click YES.

A text box appears with the connection string, in our example we selected NO above an our password now reads '###'. We can right click on the text to copy the line into the clip board, and then paste from the clip board onto the browser configuration connection in Hach WIMS client. In our example, we will need to delete the '###' and enter the actual password.
