FAQ : Which support package is the right one for me?
Hach IIM Support Area Account provides updates, patches, hotfixes as well as cd/dvd releases for multiple Hach IIM products.
The package type is there to help you identify what a package contains before you download it.
Support Area Account Package Types:
- ZIP
This type of package is meant to be downloaded from the support area of the website, and extracted so that the files inside of the package directly overwrite the existing files of the version of product that you are attempting to patch. If the product you are trying to patch this way is running, it must be stopped before you can overwrite its files. This type of package is delivered to you via a Self-Extractable archive file (.exe).
- ISO-CD
Package contains a disk image of a CD. This disk image is often referred to as an ISO image. You can burn an ISO image onto a blank CD medium. OPS Systems will use this package type to distribute large releases such as product platform installation CD's. This type of package is delivered to you via a Self-Extractable archive file (.exe).

- ISO-DVD
Package contains a disk image of a DVD. This disk image is often referred to as an ISO image. You can burn an ISO image onto a blank DVD medium. OPS Systems will use this package type to distribute large releases such as product platform installation DVD's. This type of package is delivered to you via a Self-Extractable archive file (.exe).

- UPDATE-INSTALLER
Package contains a special installer application that must be used to install a new version of a product. Run setup.exe after you have downloaded and extracted your package. This type of package is delivered to you via a Self-Extractable archive file (.exe).
- SELF-UPDATE
This type of package is meant to be downloaded from the support area of the website, extracted by running it, and then uploaded to the server database by using the Server Setup application for your product platform. Based on MIN_x_VERSION setting of the product’s Admin Console, the different pieces applications will auto patch themselves from the server database. This type of package is delivered to you via a Self-Extractable archive file (.exe).
- LIVE-UPDATE
This type of package is meant to be downloaded by the LiveUpdate NT service. LiveUpdate checks www.opssys.com for new patches once a night. If it finds that we released a new version, it automatically downloads it for you and notifies you. Currenly only WIMS product platform supports LiveUpdate.
- FULL-MSI
This type of package is a file with a name like "wims_XXXXX.msi" where XXXXX is a number. You can install it by just double-clicking it and following the Installation Wizard dialogs and instructions.
- PATCH-MSI
This type of package is a file with a name like "wims_XXXXX_Patch.msi" where XXXXX is a number. This is a package that can be installed over an already-existing package with an earlier version. It may require you to do a certain number of steps manually before/after installation.
- PLATFORM-INSTALLER-MSI
This type of package is a file with a name like "wims_XXXXX.msi" where XXXXX is a number. It cannot be installed stand-alone. You have to use the WIMS Platform Installer to install such packages or you will get an error during installation.
