Q14481 Import Data from External Source Utility allows you to import data from any OLE DB compliant database (Access, Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL...)
In System Setup>Edit/View Variables (see Variable Edit External Source Setup), you can setup an SQL Query to pull data from an external database (setup with External Data Source Setup) and place the result in the WIMS Variable. After you have setup the data source connection and the SQL Query, this utility can be used to get the data and store in the WIMS Database.
Auto Run:
If you launch Q14481.exe with a command line option it will load the settings, Import Data and Exit the program. You can use the Windows Task Scheduler. Notice the 1 after the exe, this tells the utility to auto run. The Command line option sets the number of days to go back (i.e. pass a 2 to import data 3 days ago thru yesterday).
Tech Notes:
Log files will be created for each run in the log folder. There is no log cleanup function as part of the utility, therefore users should clear the log folder as needed.
