Q13381 - KNOWNISSUE: Error 75 - Path File access error in Procedure CreateDB (under Windows 7 /2008)

This pertains to Hach WIMS Remote Client running on Microsoft Windows 7 and Windows 2008 / 2008 R2.

Symptoms:

You will see this in Q13380 step 6 (as of this writing) stating "... it will synchronize with the master database...". If you are logged in as the administrator you will not see this.

You will also see this while performing Q12149.

When trying to create the initial copies of the databases / facilities from the master database the following error is returned:

Cause:

This error stems from Windows 7 not allowing anyone but administrators to add files to the file system. And when the facilities are being "moved" from the master WIMS install to the WIMS Remote install, new database files are being created.

Workaround:

To handle this issue, log in as an administrator or when running Hach WIMS Remote application right click on the icon and choose "Run as administrator", see the following screen shot.
