Q12666 - HOWTO: Install Collector on remote computer

The Collector and Dispatcher will need to be installed on the computer that has the historical account of the source data. Source data are values coming from various places within the plant, such as from Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's). The historical account is maintained by some other software, which the Collector will need to communicate with. For this explanation, we will refer to the computer with source data as the Source Data Computer.

On the Source Data Computer, install the Collector. This program can be installed from the Hach WIMS Indirect Interface CD (KB article Q12520 - How to install interface from ISO image (indirect)). If a CD Drive is unavailable, download the ISO image from one of our mirror sites and follow the instructions in Q12520, there are instructions to mount the ISO image in KB article Q12278.

The Welcome screen appears, click on 2.) Launch the Interface/Collector Installation link.

During the installation, the following screen appears at which time you need to click on the CUSTOM button.

The next screen will show the components to be installed and the folder where they will be installed.

The Interface does not need to be installed, so click the box to the left of Interface.

Select the option Entire feature will be unavailable. You can also install the collector to any location from this screen.

Notice the red X next to Interface above, this signifies it will not be installed. Click the Next button, and a message appears to let you know the components are about to be installed, now is the time to go Back if you need to make changes.

Click the Install button and the selected compenents will install. When installation is complete, the following message will appear.

Click Finish to exit installation of the collector.
