Q10811 - INFO: Sync

Used to sync data to/from PDA into OPSSQL.

BUTTONS

Used to disable data before selected date

(This is the recommended option).  You must choose this option for the first sync after installing POPS WM.  This will upload all the user settings, definitions, routes, etc.. to the handheld device.

It should also be used after a change has been made in OPS32, such as settings for how users log in, or which users have access to which routes, or if routes themselves have been changed or updated.

This may take longer on the computer but quickly updates POPS WM when it is started on the handheld device

This option can be used if the route definition has not been changed or updated.  If routes or users have been updated in OPS32, then using option 2 will not update this information on the handheld thus leaving the handheld with outdated information.

This option takes a very short time on the computer, but increases the time to update the handheld POPS WM is started.

USING

In OPSSQL go to the menu Pocket OPS, Sync.

Option A - Sync Routes, Users and Data:

  1. You must connect the handheld before clicking the  button.  NOTE: The device needs only to be connected, neither Guest nor Standard relationship is required.
  2. At least one route must be selected.  You may also select a certain user to see which routes they have permissions to, if you are a super user.  If you are not, then your username and the routes you have permissions to will show in the Routes window.
  3. Data will be read from the handheld, written to the OPS SQL database, and then the users, routes and historical data points for selected routes will be sent to the handheld.
  4. When the sync is complete a summary will be provided.

Option B - Sync Data Only:

  3. Data will be read from the handheld, written to the OPS SQL database, and then a script that we call the “Update Data file” will be sent to the handheld.  This Update file will be run on the handheld device the first time that you start it after this type of sync.  It might take a significant amount of time on the device.  Because of this, if the time is estimated to take more than 5 minutes on the handheld, a message is displayed.

If you choose to continue, the Data Update file will be copied to the device.  Upon completion a summery will be provided.

It is best to start POPS WM on the device immediately as it might take some time.  Once started the title screen will display with this message for approximately the time specified.
