Q10808 - INFO: Determine Oxygen Utilization Coefficients

Used to compute the site specific coefficients needed to determine the relationship between oxygen requirements and organic load/mixed liquor concentrations.

To determine oxygen needs, a statistical correlation computes the coefficients of an equation which yields the rate at which the biomass uses oxygen (Endogenous Respiration Rate) and the rate at which the organic load uses oxygen(Substrate Oxygen Utilization Rate).

Using Determine Oxygen-Utilization Coefficients

Using site operating data over a specified time period, we will compute the coefficients needed to determine the relationship between oxygen requirements and organic load/mixed liquor concentration.  Enter the Start and End Date for the analysis period and select the basins.  Click the Calc Coefficients and Plot button, this will calculate the SOUR and endogenous coefficients.  Once the coefficients have been calculated, Plot Organic and Plot MLSS will be enabled.

BUTTONS:

Selects highlighted Basin.

Selects all basins.

Un-selects highlighted basin.

Un-selects all basins.

Calculates the Substrate Oxygen Utilization Rate, Endogenous Oxygen Requirement, and Correlation Coefficient.  Displays the formula for Oxygen Requirement.  A dialog box will display the coefficients. Note: the correlation coefficient is a measurement of the "goodness of fit" and ranges from 0 (worst case) to 1 (a perfect fit).  Any number greater than .7 means that the analysis is valid.  Click OK and the plot will be shown.

Displays the Oxygen Requirement Initial Conditions Form used to enter conditions for the Oxygen Requirement graph.  The graph shows the amount of oxygen required for various loads.

Displays the Oxygen Requirement Initial Conditions Form used to enter conditions for the Oxygen Requirement graph.  The graph shows the amount of oxygen required for various mixed liquor concentrations.

NOTE:  Coefficients of biological processes are site specific and change from time to time and, at least, seasonally.

Field Descriptions

Basin Temperature:  Enter desired temperature for the analysis. Default is 20 Deg. C.
