Q11012 - INFO: Oxygen-Status Evaluation

The oxygen capacity and utilization plots provide a quick and convenient reference for estimating the condition of the treatment facility.  Frequently, however, the specific conditions the operator actually encounters might not be covered in the available plots, requiring interpolation of a graph.  The oxygen evaluation provides an instantaneous evaluation of present operating conditions.

FIELDS:

MLSS Enter the MLSS or MLVSS values for all basins in service.

Influent BOD(mg/L): Enter the BOD concentration for this analysis.

Influent Flow(MGD): Enter the flow for this analysis.

D.O. Target(mg/L): Enter desired D.O. level.  Predicted D.O. will be compared to this value for recommendation.

Basin Temperature (Deg C): Enter the temperature for this analysis.

Beta: Enter desired Beta. Default is .95

BUTTONS:

Performs calculations and presents recommendations on this same form

Returns to the main menu.

EXAMPLES:

If Predicted Operating D.O. is within 2.0 of the target value, the recommendation will be "DISSOLVED OXYGEN is Adequate".  Otherwise recommendations will be:

D.O. is more than 2 mg/l below TARGET, consider LOAD reduction or increased AERATION

OR

Excessive D.O.- Consider reduction of Aeration to save energy.
