Hach WIMS Platform Installer Help

For Hach WIMS Single User

The Hach WIMS Platform Installer is a program that will aid you with the installation of the various Hach WIMS components that are necessary to run Hach WIMS. The Hach WIMS Platform Installer looks like this:

There could be slight differences between the screen shot and the way the version you're running looks.

You cannot install the Hach WIMS software without running the Platform Installer.

The Platform Installer should launch automatically when you inserted the DVD mailed to you. If it does not, or, you wish to run the Platform Installer manually from a particular location, you will need to double-click the "PlatformInstallerBootstrap.exe" file (NOT the "PlatformInstallerBootstrap.msi"):

To run the Platform Installer, your system must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Operating System:
    • 32-bit: Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 or later
    • 64-bit: Windows 2003 Server 64-bit Service Pack 1 or later
  • .NET Framework 2.0 or later
  • 256MB of RAM
  • Windows Installer 3.1
  • MDAC 2.8

NOTE:
If you don't meet the Operating System or RAM requirements, the platform installer will NOT run!

If you don't meet any of the other requirements, e.g. if you don't have the correct Windows Installer version or MDAC version or .NET version, the PlatformInstaller will first launch the "Prerequisites Wizard":

The Prerequisites Wizard will install all necessary programs, patches and components that will allow you to run the Platform Installer as well as Hach WIMS. You MUST complete ALL Wizard steps before you can run the Platform Installer! This is what you might see in case you have none of the prerequisites installed:

In this example, all three prerequisites need to be installed before the Platform Installer can run.

WARNING:
Depending on the state of your system and what you already (don't)have installed, the Wizard might reboot your computer MULTIPLE times! Please save & exit all important documents you have opened before proceeding!
