Q14548 - INFO: Variable Name Library

The Variable Name Library allows you to set a list of your standard names.  In Edit/View Variables, a ... button will appear allowing you set the name from the list.

Invalid variable names will have an orange border in Edit/View Variables.

The list is initially populated during the Database Upgrade 7.7.8 with the Hach Claros Parameter Library.  The Claros GUID is brought into the list and will be stored in the Variable's Claros Parm Guid when a standard name is selected from the list.  This will allow for cross referencing between WIMS and Claros in the future.  You can edit/add/delete from the list.

Steps to begin using the library:

1. Turn Standard Variable Name Mode to on in Facility Setup on the Settings Tab.  Note:  Using the Standard Variable Name works best if your Default Variable Display (also set in Facility Setup on the Settings Tab) is set to "Location Path and Name".

2. Review/edit/add names in the library using System Setup>System Tables>Entire System>Variable Name Lib.

3. Go to Edit/View Variables and use the ... button next to the variable name to set your name to a standard name.  When a Variable is displayed the Name will have an Orange border if the name is not standard (i.e. not in the list).

Border will be removed and Name will be updated:

TECH NOTES:

To get a list of variables that do not have a standard name:

SELECT VARNUM,NAME, UNITS FROM VARDESC WHERE NAME NOT IN (SELECT NAME FROM OPSROOT.DBO.LIB_PARM) ORDER BY VARNUM
